The Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty Between Belarus and Russia on the Development of Military-Technical Cooperation, dated 10 December 2009, Was Ratified

On June 3, 2026, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus ratified the protocol amending the Treaty between Belarus and Russia on the development of military-technical cooperation of 10 December 2009.

Speaking to parliament deputies, Minister of the State Authority for Military Industry Dmitry Pantus noted that a significant period of time had passed since the signing of the document. Given the changed geopolitical situation, it became necessary to make several adjustments and additions.

The changes affected the list of organisations that can independently purchase military-technical equipment; the procedure for concluding and implementing contracts, creating a list of military-technical equipment; the procedure for purchasing components for maintenance and repair of weapons and military equipment; the cost of purchased samples of weapon systems and military and special equipment when providing military acceptance services.

On 9 June 2026, the upper house of the Parliament of Belarus, the Council of the Republic, approved the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on the Development of Military-Technical Cooperation of 10 December 2009.”

The document was presented to the senators by the First Deputy Minister of the State Authority for Military Industry, Oleg Mishchenko.

Ratification of the protocol was an important step in strengthening the defenсe capabilities of our states. Updating the legal framework not only removes unnecessary barriers but also gives new impetus to integration processes within the Union State, ensuring more flexible and efficient interaction in the military-technical sphere.
