New Security Solutions for Oil and Gas Facilities
In the oil and gas industry, timely detection of methane leaks is a pressing issue, as these leaks significantly reduce operational efficiency and pose risks of man-made accidents. In response to these challenges, engineers at Peleng JSC are actively expanding their range of innovative gas analysis equipment.
The transition to comprehensive infrastructure solutions represented a logical evolution of the DML-150S laser methane detector. Another step the company has taken in this direction is the development of the Areal-360 fixed monitoring system.
The system is designed for round-the-clock automatic monitoring of air quality at sites within the process network – compressor stations, gas distribution stations, and gas processing facilities. The equipment is designed for extreme climatic conditions and operates reliably over a temperature range of -55 °C to +50 °C.
Preliminary tests of the new product were recently completed at the “Minskaya” compressor station, part of the Minsk Gas Distribution Company. The tests were carried out under real-world operating conditions and strictly in accordance with the approved methodology; however, even in challenging weather conditions – with wind gusts of up to 25 m/s – the programme was carried out in full. The Areal-360 system demonstrated 100 per cent reliability, detecting all simulated methane leaks.
The development has good prospects for being scaled up at gas transmission system facilities.
