Low-Earth Orbit Communications Will Become Available in Belarus

On the sidelines of the “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” (CIPR-2026) conference, Belarus’s national satellite operator “Belintersat” and the Russian aerospace company “BUREAU 1440” signed a strategic partnership agreement. Under the agreement, broadband communications based on the “BUREAU 1440” low-Earth orbit constellation will be integrated into “Belintersat’s” infrastructure. The agreement paves the way for the creation of a partner network across the entire country.

Through cooperation, it will be possible to bridge the digital divide in remote areas of Belarus, ensure high speeds and minimal latency comparable to those of landline networks, achieve import substitution in critical information infrastructure, and strengthen overall technological sovereignty.

“The need for digital services among people living in remote areas of Belarus is growing by the day. At the same time, modern online resources require increasingly high communication speeds and low latency, which can only be provided by terrestrial networks or a low-Earth orbit constellation. In the long term, collaboration with “BUREAU 1440” will reduce the digital divide and give a new impetus for the development of Belarus’s regions. It is also important that cooperation with partners will help implement a comprehensive plan for import substitution in critical information infrastructure, which will become the foundation for the development of the common technological sovereignty,” noted Oleg Vinyarsky, Technical Director of the “Belintersat” project, Head of the Ground Control Complex.
