JSC NIIEVM Handed Over to the Troops a Modernised PRV-16BM.04 Radio Altimeter

The line of updated weapons of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces was supplemented by another mobile radio altimeter PRV-16, which underwent a deep modernisation at JSC NIIEVM to the level of PRV-16BM.04. It should be noted that about 90 per cent of the product’s components and systems were manufactured directly at the enterprise’s facilities with the transition to a modern element base.

Based on a specialised computer with a two-window interface (rangefinder and altimeter), a new operator’s workstation was created, ensuring data exchange with the “RIF” automation system and receiving information from the ADS-B system.

A remote workstation allows you to control the altimeter from a distance. The low-noise high-frequency transistor amplifier has been modernised, thereby increasing the sensitivity of the receiving path, jamming immunity, and reliability of the PRV.

The introduction of modern technologies has extended the service life of the radio altimeter by 8 years. Its reliability has increased significantly, and the tactical and technical characteristics of the PRV-16BM.04 make it possible to detect and track both modern and promising small-sized aircraft effectively.
