Information Security Is in the Centre of Attention
From 15 to 17 May, St. Petersburg hosted the XXIX Scientific and Practical Conference on Integrated Information Security. It was organised by the Union State Standing Committee of Belarus and Russia. The event was attended by famous scientists, Union parliamentarians, experts and information security specialists, who discussed the official policy of the two countries in ensuring their information security, and exchanged experience, technologies and solutions.
“Information security is an essential part of the functioning of any state, any institution, and even more so of a complex of institutions. This applies to all aspects of activity within the state, as well as to the development of industry, information security, and the information that circulates in the networks,” Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Aleksei Kubrin said at the opening of the event.
Gennady Lepeshko, Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Cochairman of the Conference Organising Committee addressed the participants and guests of the conference.
“On 22 February 2023, the Supreme State Council of the Union State approved the Concept of Information Security of the Union State, the main purpose of which is to protect the national interests of the Union State members in the media landscape. The strategic document laid the basis for a coherent public policy and for public relations in the field of information security, as well as for the development of measures to improve the information security systems of the Union States members. It is obvious that building an effective system is impossible without joint practical measures,” said Gennady Lepeshko.
The conference participants focused on the creation and development of a joint forecasting system, detection and prevention of threats to information security of the Union State; reflection of destructive information and technical impact on critical facilities; improvement of security, stability and integrity of the functioning of the telecommunication network of the member states, national segments of the Internet; international cooperation in the sphere of information security, the formation of an information cross-border space of trust and the improvement of human resources.
In addition to the plenary session, the work of thematic sections was organised, which were attended by representatives of the central office of the State Authority for Military Industry and a number of enterprises of the Belarusian arms industry.
