TRIO SAM System Is Capable of Using Surface-to-Air and Air-Launched Missiles
BSVT–New Technologies LLC initiated the development of the Trio surface-to-air missile system mounted on the ASILAK light armoured vehicle. The design incorporates advanced concepts for developing air defence systems that are capable of countering precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The large-scale R&D project envisages the development of a universal weapon station capable of firing two types of ammunition (the R-60-NT short-range air-launched missile and 9M37M surface-to-air missile), and an acoustic and optical surveillance system.
The new SAM system is equipped with an onboard navigation and orientation system, data reception and transmission equipment, as well as communication and control systems integrated into the Alliance automated control system.
Target data received from signals intelligence units and a higher command post is processed in real time and issued in the form of target designations to the Trio SAM system.
The SAM system is also fitted with the Sokol optical all-round view and detection system, which automatically reviews a given sector of the hemisphere; processes data received from TV modules; recognises and identifies targets; calculates air situation data and transmits it to subordinate vehicles and a central command post.
It is expected that a preliminary model of the system’s mobile version will be displayed at the 10th International Military Exhibition MILEX 2021, which will be held from 23 to 26 June in Minsk.
