The Military Receives New EW Equipment

At present, the Armed Forces continue to receive cutting-edge jamming stations. Along with modernisation, new domestically-made equipment supplied by Goscomvoyenprom companies is being purchased.
On 15 December, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of electronic warfare units, at the 10th Electronic Warfare Battalion (with ground assets), Chief of the General Staff , First Deputy Minister of Defence Oleg Belokonev handed over three new serial HF and VHF jamming stations and one modernised short-wave radio station to the personnel.
The event was attended by Igor Demidenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom), and representatives of KB Radar JSC.
“Recently, fi ve defence companies of our country and Russia have upgraded and delivered to the military 18 new models of this equipment,” said Oleg Belokonev. “Their direct approbation during the Zapad 2017 joint strategic exercise allowed the military to conduct electronic intelligence and jamming at a qualitatively new level,” he added.
“Thanks to the joint eff orts of representatives of thority in the fi eld of experimental aviation. the Defence Ministry and Goscomvoyenprom and the invaluable experience of operating a prototype of this station in January 2015, the R-934UM2 was introduced into service with the Armed Forces,” said Igor Demidenko. “Today, two months ahead of the deadlines set by the agreements, we are giving three stations into good hands of qualifi ed specialists,” he added.
Representatives of the company handed over the symbolic keys to each of the delivered systems
to the specialists of the military unit.
As a result of a research and development project, KB Radar has developed the R-934UM2 VHF
radio communication jamming station.
The system is an innovative solution and meets the most up-to-date requirements for similar weapons produced by the world’s leading manufacturers.
The wide range of capabilities inherent in this system will allow combat crews to successfully carry out combat missions in search, detection, direction fi nding, position fi nding, technical analysis of VHF radio sources and eff ective jamming.
In 2017 this is the third joint event between the two agencies that intend to continue this practice in 2018.
