“Stena” Against Airborne Threats

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus have adopted the “Stena” system for countering small, slow, low-flying targets, developed by JSC “AGAT – Control Systems”.

The system is designed to engage aerial targets at low and extremely low altitudes, protect critical infrastructure, and defend fixed and mobile positions against a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). “Stena” ensures continuous airspace surveillance 24/7 and in all weather conditions.

The automated workstation enables the operator to receive information from virtually all reconnaissance assets—including acoustic and seismic sensors—to integrate data, and to automatically assign targets to kinetic engagement and/or jamming assets. Its X-band radar station reliably detects and tracks targets with a small radar cross-section (RCS). It detects aircraft and helicopters at ranges of up to 30 km, medium-sized UAVs at up to 25 km, mini-UAVs at up to 15 km, and micro-UAVs at up to 6 km.

Thanks to its compact dimensions, the system can be deployed not only at fixed locations, but also on unprepared sites, building rooftops, engineering structures, and vehicles. The radar, featuring a phased-array antenna, weighs just 25 kg, whilst the gimbal weighs 10 kg.
