SAMI Studies Strategic Planning Issues

From 14 to 15 November 2019, Peleng JSC hosted a seminar chaired by Roman Golovchenko on strategic planning, project management and information management at enterprises of the Belarusian State Authority for Military Industry (SAMI). Experienced teachers of Stockholm School of Economics in Russia Alexei Popov and Vsevolod Safarov, who are well-read in educational and methodological training and have high qualifications and wide practical skills in various fields of economics, provided a training course.

There were heads, their deputies for economic and commercial issues and deputies for development, chief engineers and economists of SAMI enterprises among the audience. The participants discussed the issues of adapting the system of managerial decisions to global trends, providing the leadership of companies with the necessary knowledge in the field of a developing strategy for the company, and forming an understanding of the significant difference between the strategy and long-term planning. This training course was planned and held in an interactive, discussion format, taking into account the traditions of European business schools, when in the process of training participants work in teams using collective thinking. The seminar’s paradigm was the well-known slogan ‘strategy is a game for oneself and, regardless of desire, against someone’. According to the teachers, there is simply no alternative to this approach – in the context of globalisation, fierce competition, resource and energy restrictions, labour immigration, rapid development of new technologies, struggle for markets and other risks. Success and prosperity in a market economy are based on the account and scrupulous analysis of many influential internal and external factors and the choice of balanced, comprehensively justified optimal solutions.

During the management game, problems of the strategy were discussed as the relationship between the company and the industry environment, project and risk management and a number of other topics. Certainly, knowledge gained at the seminar will help the heads of companies to correctly plan a development strategy and apply possible management systems in the process of enterprise growth.
