Rubezh Will Protect
The 9th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Machinery MILEX 2019 proved to be an excellent platform for the presentation of promising solutions of Belarusian defence companies. The Rubezh barrier system designed for riot control was in a class of its own.
The expandable shield is mounted on a vehicle and provides protection for law enforcement officers from hits with sticks, metal rods and thrown objects. In terms of its functionality, the Rubezh can replace 24 (!) riot police officers and take the brunt of aggressive actions of a crowd or group of individuals.
Off-road vehicles (SUVs, crossovers, pickups) can be used as a base vehicle for the Rubezh barrier system. Additionally, vehicles can be equipped with acoustic and lighting devices, strobe lights affecting people with repetitive bright flashes, as well as photo and video cameras. In addition, the Rubezh has its own fire extinguishing system and, if necessary, can be enhanced with armour.
The expandable shield is a system that can transform into a barrier 6 metres wide and 3 metres high in just 30 seconds. The length of the barrier is adjusted to the width of the street in such a way that several vehicles could block the street entirely and, if necessary, push protesters back.
It takes 10 minutes to mount the Rubezh barrier system on a vehicle. Despite the system’s massive appearance, it does not limit the vehicle’s functionality. There is a special rubberised area at the shield’s bottom to eliminate the possibility of foreign objects falling under the wheels.
The Rubezh barrier system was developed by AGAT – Electromechanical Plant JSC in cooperation with representatives of Belarusian and foreign security agencies. Law enforcement and security agencies from around the world showed their high interest in the system during the 9th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Machinery MILEX 2019 (Minsk) and the 5th International Forum Army 2019 (Kubinka).
