Promoting Belarus–Russia military-technical cooperation

On 25 December 2013, the Supreme State Council of the Belarus–Russia Union State held a meeting in Moscow. The event was attended by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The participants discussed the key issues of Belarus-Russia bilateral cooperation in different areas. The meeting resulted in the signing of a number of documents, including the intergovernmental agreement for the implementation of the 2020 Belarus–Russia military-technical cooperation programme.

The agreement was inked by Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulyov and Director of the Russian Federal Agency for Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin.

The subject of the agreement is implementation of the 2020 Belarus–Russia military-technical cooperation programme, including deliveries, repair, upgrade and R&D works for both de- fence ministries, as well as promotion of cooperative and integration ties of Belarusian and Russian defence companies in the above areas. The agreement will streamline Belarusian-Russian military-technical cooperation and enable Belarusian companies to access specific projects within Russia’s state defence order.
