NIIEVM JSC Speсialists Integrateds the Fare Collection Systems Into the Developed Facial Recognition Turnstile Equipment in the Minsk Metro
The specialists of NIIEVM JSC at the suggestion of ASB Belarusbank JSC analysed the possibilities and options for the implementation of the project on fare payment in the Minsk Metro on the basis of a set of facial recognition equipment. It should be reminded, that the latter had become one of the top three in terms of speed and accuracy due to during the independent test made by the US national institute of standards and technologies (NIST).
Currently, at the operating stations of the capital’s metro, such entrance turnstiles are used, which alongside the tokens accept the payment by contactless smart cards (CSM) of three types: Minsk Metro’s CSM, the unified joint public transport fare CSM and the bank’s CSM.
To equip the stations of the 3rd Line the personnel of NIIEVM JSC developed and installed a new model of entrance turnstile different from the previous one both mechanically and schematically. Special software was developed for this model to ensure that the electronic modules of the turnstile work with all of the specified ticket goods products.
The novelty has been put into service since January 2021 and operates at six entrance turnstiles of the 1st line of the Minsk Metro. The project provides for the installation of similar equipment at all stations of the 1st and 2nd lines, development of solutions for this issue at the 3rd line, as well as expanding of the interface and exchange protocol to form the automated system of passage payment monitoring (ASPPM) based on facial recognition technology.
