Myanmar Parliamentary Delegation Visits MZKT

From 21 to 24 May, at the invitation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, a parliamentary delegation of Myanmar led by Speaker of the House of Nationalities of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar Khin Aung Myint was on an official visit to Belarus.

Belarus is ready to enhance all-round cooperation with Myanmar, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the head of the delegation on 22 May.

“We are ready to cooperate with you in all areas, from civil and military education to cooperation in agriculture and industrial modernisation. You have large reserves of mineral resources. We are ready to provide necessary equipment for agriculture and mining companies,” said the head of state.

On the same day, the guests from Myanmar visited the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT), where they saw the plant’s production facilities and a line-up of MZKT vehicles.

With high engineering capabilities and cutting-edge experimental, research and production facilities, MZKT is ready to develop and produce unique motor vehicles according to the requirements of a foreign customer for various industries.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom Vladimir Morozov emphasised mutually beneficial bilateral ties between the two countries, including those in military-technical sphere, and assured the head of the Myanmar delegation of Goscomvoyenprom’s readiness to proactively develop these ties.

At present, military-technical cooperation with Myanmar is carried out on a systematic basis in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Union of Myanmar on Military-Technical Cooperation of 10 December 2008.

The parties have established Belarus-Myanmar Joint Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation.
