Military-Technical Cooperation Intergovernmental Agreement Signed

On 29 May 2015 in Islamabad, during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the parties signed a package of twenty documents aimed at extending the cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan in various areas. In particular, Belarus and Pakistan signed an intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation.

The document was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulyov and Pakistani Defence Production Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain in the presence of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.

Cooperation of the countries under this agreement will be in accordance with national legislation and international obligations of Belarus and Pakistan and will be aimed at further strengthening and extending friendly relations on a mutually beneficial basis.

The parties undertake to promote bilateral visits to enhance cooperation between companies and private sector of economy to find new areas of cooperation, including in the field of research and development, co-production, production technology transfer, export of equipment, personnel training and joint international marketing.

To coordinate bilateral military-technical cooperation, the parties will establish a Joint Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation.
