Groza-R2 Counteracts Hexacopter with Cigarettes
The Groza-R2 radio electronic gun, developed by KB Radar JSC – Managing Company of Radar Systems Holding, is being tested in the military units that ensure the protection of the state border of the Republic of Belarus. According to the State Border Committee, the use of the aforementioned product has made it possible to prevent successfully one of the episodes of smuggling by means of multicopters.
The incident, which took place on 23 October 2020 became another example of a successful use of electronic warfare equipment.
Border guards of the Znamenka outpost ( Brest border patrol) counteracted the hexacopter the Groza-R2 electronic gun. The hexacopter was used to transport excisable goods across the Belarusian-Polish border.
The product of KB Radar JSC – Managing Company of Radar Systems Holding blocks the control channels of drones and also suppresses their on-board navigation receivers, which leads to the loss of communication between the drone and its operator, loss of spatial orientation and an emergency landing (crash).
Summarising the successful results of the trial operation, the State Border Committee is considering the issue of supplying domestic samples of electronic warfare equipment for combating unmanned aerial vehicles into service.
