Goscomvoyenprom Companies among Award Winners and Recipients of Best Exporter 2016 Competition

On 19 May 2017, the Palace of the Republic hosted an official ceremony of awarding the winners of the Best Exporter 2016 national competition, which were identified in 22 categories solely on the basis of official statistics on the export of products and services. This year, one more condition has been added: the development of new markets. The national competition commission awarded certificates of appreciation to about 30 business entities.
A total of 144 companies entered the final stage of the competition, which is 19% more than last year.
Goscomvoyenprom in the final of the competition was represented by three companies – the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, 558 Aircraft Repair Plant and Display Design Office in categories Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking, Services, and Electronics, Instrument-Making, Electrical and Optical-Mechanical Engineering respectively.
The 558 Aircraft Repair Plant was recognised as the winner of the Best Exporter 2016 competition in the Services category.
In 2016, the plant’s exports totalled nearly $119 million; export growth rate reached almost 132%; balance of foreign trade was positive and amounted to $15 million. Export ratio reached 80%.
The Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant in the Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking category scored the closest number of points to the winner – Stadler Minsk – and achieved worthy results in terms of export volume and foreign trade balance, for which the plant was awarded a certificate of appreciation.
The LEMT Scientific and Technical Centre of BelOMO was awarded a certificate of appreciation in the Electronics, Instrument-Making, Electrical and Optical-Mechanical Engineering category.
Goscomvoyenprom companies traditionally participate in the Best Exporter of the Year national competition and have always become award winners and recipients in recent years. ATOMTEX became the three-time winner in the Electronics and Instrument-Making category in 2009, 2011 and 2012; the Display Design Office won in 2013. In 2014, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant became the finalist of the Best Exporter 2014 competition and took third place in the Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking category. In 2016, the 558 Aircraft Repair Plant entered the top three winners in the Services category.
