Goscomvoyenprom Chairman Meets with Indonesian Defence Minister

An Indonesian military delegation led by Defence Minister Gen. Ryamizard Ryacudu visited Belarus on 27-30 April at the invitation of Sergei Gurulev, chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom).
A meeting between Goscomvoyenprom officials and the Indonesian delegation took place on 28 April. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in the development of bilateral military-technical cooperation, discussed the implementation of agreements reached earlier, noted the potential and identified specific targets for the expansion of cooperation in a number of areas in the near future.
The meeting noted the readiness of the Belarusian side to consider any variants of cooperation from export/import operations to joint projects on the development and production of advanced military products with the possibility of technology transfer and access to markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
On 19 March 2013, during Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Indonesia, the parties signed the Agreement on Cooperation in Defence Industry with the aim to create conditions for cooperation in this field.
The parties offer to fully use the mechanisms of the Belarus-Indonesia Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation to step up dealing with these issues.
The Indonesian delegation visited a number of Goscomvoyenprom companies where they familiarised themselves with the companies’ capabilities in the production of military systems, as well as repair and maintenance of military equipment.
