Egypt and Belarus Discuss Cooperation in Defence Industry
On 9–10 June 2019, Cairo hosted the 2nd meeting of the Belarusian-Egyptian Committee on Military-Technical Cooperation.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by Roman Golovchenko, Minister of State Authority for Military Industry. The Egyptian delegation was led by Maj. Gen. Mohamed El Assar, Minister of State for Military Production.
Representatives of a number of Belarusian defence companies and various departments of the Defence Ministry and the Military Production Ministry of Egypt attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation in the defence industry, including those relating to supply, joint production, modernisation and repair of weapons and special equipment.
The minutes of the meeting were signed, and a draft roadmap was initialled on advancing cooperation between State Authority for Military Industry of the Republic of Belarus and the Defence Ministry and the Military Production Ministry of Egypt for 2019–2021.
In addition, Roman Golovchenko met with Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) Lt. Gen. Abdel-Moneim El-Terras and with the leadership of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
