Belarusian Prime Minister Visits Tekhnika Svyazi
During his working trip to the Vitebsk Region on 9 November, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov visited key industrial enterprises in the Orsha District and assessed how the president’s instructions for their development are being fulfilled.
The implementation of the investment project and the development prospects were discussed in the town of Barani at one of the oldest Belarusian enterprises Tekhnika Svyazi, which is a Goscomvoyenprom company.
Over its 150-year history, Tekhnika Svyazi has worked its way up from a tiny metalworking plant (nailery) to a diversified enterprise with a complete technological production cycle, the leading developer and producer of radio, line and fibre-optic communication equipment in Belarus.
Valentina Vishnevskaya, director of Tekhnika Svyazi, reported on this year’s results of the financial and economic activity and the ongoing work aimed at stabilising and strengthening the company’s financial and economic situation.
According to Valentina Vishnevskaya, Goscomvoyenprom and the management company of the Geoinformation Control Systems Holding are constantly working to ensure the use of the company’s production capacities through the orders placed by companies that are part of the holding and other Goscomvoyenprom organisations. In the first nine months of 2017, the company managed to achieve positive dynamics in terms of production volumes, and production is expected to grow at a rate of 112.3% by the year-end.
The company has productionised a line of new products (electrical cabinets, antenna devices for communication equipment, control units). At the same time, the share of innovative products in the total volume of industrial products shipped in January–September 2017 amounted to 21.4%.
In order to stabilise and improve the financial and economic situation at Tekhnika Svyazi, a development programme for 2017–2020 was approved at the company. The programme envisages the setting up of production sites for the manufacture of new types of products, as well as the implementation of measures aimed at improving the company’s facilities and equipment.
The implementation of the programme will allow the company to achieve positive dynamics of socio-economic development and ensure breakeven operation in 2018.
The main activities of the programme are included in the Comprehensive Development Plan for the Orsha District, which was approved by the government, as well as in the draft programme for the development of the Orsha District until 2020.
In 2017, measures have already been implemented as part of the development programme to set up a production site for the manufacture of mobile communication equipment and automated control systems. The Prime Minister visited the production site where he familiarised himself with manufactured products. Work has begun at other production sites, which is planned to be completed in 2018.
“So far, we cannot say that companies have made great progress. But what is important is that they have decided on their prospects and see them. In the vast majority of cases, investment projects have well-developed sources of financing. The bulk of the work related to modernisation, introduction of new technologies and purchase of advanced equipment will be launched in 2018 and will partially be completed in 2019. There are serious calculations regarding markets and product sales,” said the Prime Minister.
The Belarusian Prime Minister said that the directors had made a good impression on him.
“It is clear that they know what to do,” said Andrei Kobyakov. “Since spring, the senior managerial staff has been significantly strengthened. There have been substitutions, and I see that the directors understand the production process, know the technologies and see the prospects,” he added.
Giving an overall assessment of what he saw, Andrei Kobyakov added that “a foundation has been laid to make the Orsha District an exemplary one, which will be a guide for others”. But there is a lot of work to do.
“The problems facing the companies are very deep. They cannot be solved within a day, a month and even a year,” he concluded.
