Belarusian Parliamentarians Approve Military-Technical Cooperation Agreement with Bolivia

A regular meeting of the second session of the Council of the Republic of the Belarusian National Assembly of the sixth convocation took place on 31 May 2017. The parliamentarians approved the draft law on ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on military-technical cooperation.
The bill was introduced for consideration to the parliamentarians by Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev.
The agreement, which was signed in July 2016 in La Paz with the aim of establishing a regulatory legal framework for bilateral military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Bolivia, will promote the development of mutually beneficial bilateral relations in the field of military-technical cooperation and the delivery of Belarusian-made military products.
According to Sergei Gurulev, signals intelligence, electronic intelligence and electronic warfare are singled out as the main areas of military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Bolivia.
The agreement provides for a number of activities aimed at implementing the provisions: the establishment by the parties of a joint committee for military-technical cooperation, the conclusion of additional protocols on cooperation, as well as identification of companies and organisations authorised to conclude contracts.
This agreement was ratified earlier, on 17 May 2017, at a meeting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
