Belarusian Goscomvoyenprom’s companies have orders until 2020
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in mid August for the first time visited the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT), which is a major GDP generating mechanical engineering company.
At present, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant is one of the leaders in the CIS for the production of
all-terrain heavy wheeled vehicles, known under the trade mark VOLAT, for defence and national economy. The vehicles feature good cross-country ability, mobility and reliability.
Chairman of Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom) Sergei Gurulyov reported to the President on the implementation
of the socio-economic development parameters, plans for the development of the defence industry and the Goscomvoyenprom until 2020, as well as on the execution of the President’s orders concerning the implementation of major investment projects and research and development activities on the creation of new weapons.
According to Sergei Gurulyov, in the first half of 2015 Goscomvoyenprom fulfilled the parameters of socio-economic development; industrial production grew by 64.4 % compared to the same period last year; profitability of sales in the industry was 20.1 %; investment in fixed capital increased by 5.6 times.
“We are making methodical efforts to diversify external markets and develop new export-oriented weapons and military equipment. In the first half of 2015, the rate of export growth amounted to 124.7 % compared to the same period last year, providing a positive balance,” said the Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom. “This year we plan to ensure the positive dynamics in exports and other parameters of socio-economic development,” he added.
Lines of the development of Goscomvoyenprom’s companies are specified until 2020.In June of this year, the committee approved the programme for the development of defence industry and Goscomvoyenprom until 2020. Emphasis is placed on the production of military products, and the calculation of the expected results of socio-economic development in the medium term is made.“Starting from 10 August we began to consider the plans for development of each our
company for 2016–2020,” said the Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom. “The work will becompleted in September,” he added.
The President listened to a report by the director of the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant concerning the company structure, lines and current state of production and financial and operating activities, and prospects for development, as well as execution of orders for the effective implementation of state supportive measures for MZKT, comprehensive modernisation of the company, productionising of new examples of equipment and manufacturing of military wheeled vehicles.
As for the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, the plant operates in accordance with previous agreements, as well as implements new projects. For example, to establish mass production of combat wheeled vehicles the plant is developing a chassis of the light-armoured vehicle. The prototype example will be made as early as next year. It is planned that the plant will satisfy the uniformed departments’ demand in these vehicles until 2020.
Alexander Lukashenko visited the plant’s workshops, where he familiarised himself with the present-day processes for parts manufacturing and assembly of wheeled truck tractors. He also visited the exhibition of MZKT-made equipment designed for the Belarusian Armed Forces, the country’s economy and for exports.
