Modernisation of armoured vehicles is one of the priorities of the State Authority for Military Industry (SAMI).In accordance with the joint decision of the Defence Ministry and SAMI, 140 (th) Repair Plant carries out R&D activity on the modernisation of the T-72B tank. The customer of the R&D project was the armoured department of the military authority.

At one of the training grounds, preliminary tests of the upgraded tank began, combined with the preparation of crews of combat vehicles for the Tank Biathlon competition, which is held as part of the International Army Games.
During the tests, army crews evaluated the technical and operational performance of the combat vehicle.
On 27 July, the training ground was visited by the Defence Minister of the Republic of Belarus Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin.
The head of the military department watched the training of the team that will represent our country at the International Army Games 2022. The head of the military department also got acquainted with the T-72BM2 tank, modernised by specialists from the Borisov enterprise.
Assessing the combat vehicle, the Defence Minister noted: “T-72BM2 fully meets the stated requirements, and after a series of tests, a decision will be made on its mass production and delivery to the troops. The most important thing is that this is our tank, made by the hands of our people. The main requirements are efficiency, power, stability, protection and convenience. Thanks to the work of the plant workers, the tank fully meets these criteria.”
