Belarus, Vietnam Discuss Military-Technical Cooperation

The fifteenth meeting of the Joint Belarus-Vietnam Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “the Commission”) took place in Minsk on 29 September 2016 under the chairmanship of Acting Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Igor Bykov.
The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnamese part of the Commission Gen. Col. Be Xuan Truong.
The Belarusian part of the Commission was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Gennady Smolsky.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in the further development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries and emphasised the potential for extending cooperation in a number of promising projects.
To implement this, the Belarusian side offers to Vietnamese partners to develop new forms of cooperation that enable the countries to fully employ capabilities of both Belarusian defence companies and our cooperation partners.
The parties discussed the results of military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam achieved since the fourteenth meeting of the Commission, considered the implementation of ongoing projects and identified promising areas of military-technical cooperation.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol that identifies promising mutually beneficial cooperation projects and the procedure for further cooperation.
On 30 September, the Vietnamese delegation visited a number of the Goscomvoyenprom companies where they familiarised themselves with the companies’ capabilities in the production of military systems and repair and maintenance of equipment.
