Belarus, UAE Identify Promising Military-Technical Cooperation Projects

The seventh meeting of the joint Belarus-UAE Committee on Military-Technical Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”) took place in Minsk on 3–6 October 2016. The Belarusian part of the Committee was headed by Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev. The UAE part was led by Chief of Joint Logistics, the UAE Armed Forces General Headquarters Maj. Gen. Ishaq Saleh Mohammed Al Balushi.
At the meeting the Committee discussed the implementation of activities included in the final protocol of the previous meeting. In addition, the participants identified promising cooperation projects and specified a procedure for their further implementation.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and noted the positive momentum in the work of the Committee as an important body that regulates bilateral relations in military-technical cooperation and contributes to the development of relations.
The parties agreed to hold the next, eighth, meeting of the Committee in September–October 2017 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
The Committee signed a protocol, which identifies promising projects of mutually beneficial cooperation in the framework of the provisions of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on Military-Technical Cooperation dated 5 March 2007 and developed the procedure for further cooperation.
Chairman of the Belarusian part of the Committee Sergei Gurulev invited the leaders of the UAE Armed Forces and UAE companies to participate in the 8th international arms exhibition MILEX 2017.
At the end of the visit, the UAE delegation visited a number of the Goscomvoyenprom companies.
