Belarus, Cuba Discuss Prospects for Military-Technical Cooperation

The 5th meeting of the Joint Belarus-Cuba Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as the Commission) was held at Belspetsvneshtechnika on 23-28 October 2016.
The Cuban delegation was led by Commander of the Cuban Revolutionary Air and Air Defence Force Tomas Valdes Hernandez. The Belarusian part of the Commission was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Gennady Smolsky.
At the Commission meeting the parties confirmed their interest in the further intensification of mutually beneficial military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Cuba, analysed the results of the implementation of agreements reached at the previous meeting, considered the practical aspects of the implementation of joint projects and developed a cooperation plan for the future.
The Commission meeting was attended by Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev. He met with the head of the Cuban delegation on 26 October. The parties noted a high level of trust that had emerged between the two countries. They discussed the state of military-technical cooperation and noted the positive dynamics of development of cooperation between the two countries in this field, as well as a wide range of promising projects.
The next meeting of the joint commission will be held in 2017 in Havana, Cuba.
