Belarus and Kazakhstan Promoting Military-Technical Cooperation

On 26 November, the 5th meeting of the sub-committee for military-technical cooperation of Belarus-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic Cooperation was held in Minsk. The event was attended by Belarusian and Kazakhstani members of the sub-committee, representatives of ministries, agencies and defence companies of both countries.

During the meeting, the countries confirmed mutual interest in fostering military-technical ties and pointed out the potential for expanding cooperation in a number of promising projects, as well as for expanding industrial and business cooperation, work of existing and creation of new joint ventures producing defence products.

One more important set of issues considered at the session of the sub-committee was related to improvement of regulatory and legal base of bilateral military-technical cooperation.

In particular, the parties considered issues of preparation for signing the draft agreement between Belarus and Kazakhstan on industrial and sci-tech cooperation of defence companies. They also discussed joint procedures of preparation for signing the draft agreement between Belarus and Kazakhstan on mutual protection of the intellectual property, created and used during bilateral military-technical cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of the national teams of Belarus-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic Cooperation, Deputy Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom Oleg Morozov and Deputy Defence Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbaev, signed the final protocol.

The countries agreed to hold the next (6th) meeting of the sub-committee of Belarus-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission for Trade-Economic Cooperation in Kazakhstan in 2015.
