Belarus and Ecuador Discuss Military-Technical Cooperation

From 28 to 29 May, Minsk hosted the second meeting of the Belarus-Ecuador Joint Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom) Oleg Morozov and Ecuadorian Deputy Defence Minister Ivan Sempertegui Gonzalez.

The parties discussed the implementation of the decisions made at the first meeting of the Belarus-Ecuador Joint Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation, as well as issues arising within the scope of bilateral cooperation and ways of solving them.

The parties confirmed their mutual interest in the further development of military-technical cooperation and emphasised the potential for extending cooperation in a number of promising areas. The Ecuadorian delegation visited a number of Goscomvoyenprom’s organisations and defence companies, where they learnt about their capabilities for production of military products and repair and maintenance of equipment.

To summarise the results and confirm the agreements reached during the meeting, on 29 May the representatives of the Ecuadorian Ministry of National Defence and the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee signed a final protocol of the second meeting of the Belarus-Ecuador Joint Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation, which formalises specific areas of cooperation.

The parties agreed to hold the next (third) meeting of the Belarus-Ecuador Joint Commission for Military-Technical Cooperation in 2016 in Quito, Ecuador.
