Belarus and Azerbaijan Discuss Urgent Issues of Military-Technical Cooperation in Minsk

From 8 to 10 October, 2017, Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar oglu, Defenсe Minister of Azerbaijan, paid an official visit to Belarus.
On October 9, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko discussed the prospects for the development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries during the meeting with the Azerbaijani defence minister.
The Belarusian leader noted that Belarus and Azerbaijan will continue to cooperate in all spheres, including military-technical one.
“Our relations do not violate either any international treaty, or any resolution of the Security Council and the UN as a whole”, stressed Head of State. “We are a sovereign independent state and we have the right to determine those areas of cooperation that correspond to the spirit of the times and requests of our states.” In his turn, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov noted that there are good cooperation projects in the military-technical sphere.
“These projects do not contradict international laws,” said the Azerbaijani defence minister. “I can confidently say that the equipment received within the framework of military-technical cooperation is of high quality. Currently it is successfully applied in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Thus, we have an opportunity to continue and even expand the cooperation. And we are looking forward to this.”
Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asgar oglu also held talks with Major General Oleg Dvigalev, Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee, on 9 October. The parties discussed current issues of Belarus-Azerbaijan military-technical cooperation and outlined the plan for its further development. The talks were held in a friendly atmosphere and resulted in the confirmation of mutual interest in expanding such cooperation.
In addition, the Azerbaijani delegation visited a number of Belarusian defence companies and got acquainted with up-to-date and promising samples of weapons and military equipment developed and produced at the enterprises of Goscomvoyenprom and defenсe sector of the Belarusian economy.
