Belarus-Azerbaijan Military-Technical Cooperation: “Long History, Big Volumes, Good Expansion Trend”

On 19 November 2018, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev conducted talks in Minsk, which resulted in a number of bilateral agreements on the countries’ collaboration in specific fields.

In the presence of the two leaders, the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom) and the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding, which aims to develop mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the supplies of air defence systems and other weapons.

The document was inked by Azerbaijani Minister of Defence Zakir Hasanov and Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom Roman Golovchenko.

“In the shortest possible time, it will transform into a contract to purchase another consignment of military equipment from Belarus,” Ilham Aliyev told the press after his talks with Alexander Lukashenko.

According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan is happy to cooperate with Belarus in this field because Belarusian products are effective and their quality is very high.

“It is no coincidence that military-technical cooperation between our countries features a long history, big volumes and a good expansion trend,” the Azerbaijani leader said.
