9А33-1B Successfully Completes Field Trials

In early May, the Borisov-based 2566 Radioelectronic Armament Repair Plant took part in a tactical exercise of the 740th Minsk Air Defence Brigade, which has the Osa-AKM SAM in service.
In Ivatsevichi Region at the 174th Domanovo training range of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defence, the plant representatives evaluated the capabilities of the 9А33-1B vehicle, which was developed under the Dozor R&D project, to detect and track aerial targets of various types.
The crew was involved in repelling an air strike, as well as detecting and tracking a helicopter target and small-sized high-speed evading target.
Hydrogen-filled balloons with an attached corner reflector simulated the first target, and the IVTs-M1 designed by Tetraedr was used as the second target.
Stated specifications were confirmed during combat performance in detecting and locking on to the fighter aircraft.
The 9A33-1B showed high effectiveness in dealing with the target simulators, providing detection and lock-on of the helicopter target and the IVTs-type small-sized high-speed evading target. The IVTs target was locked on in the boost phase of flight.
This has been the second successful field tests of the 9A33-1B combat vehicle this year. The tests confirmed the high effectiveness of the equipment.
In early February, experts of the Borisov-based plant took part in the exercise of air defence units at the former Polessky range in Gomel Region.
The military practised detecting and tracking aerial targets in jamming environment and confirmed capabilities of the 9A33-1B combat vehicle to detect and track airplanes, helicopters and UAVs both via radar and optical channels.
During the live firing exercises the 9A33-1B crew together with the 740th Air Defence Brigade personnel destroyed two helicopter targets.
