2566 REARP Upgrading TELAR Vehicle
2566 Radioelectronic Armament Repair Plant (2566 REARP) has carried out research and development work on upgrading the 9A33BM2(3) TELAR vehicle to the 9A33-1B level. During acceptance testing at the end of 2015, it was proved that the 9A33-1B prototype meets the requirement of the specification and the documentation is ready for serial upgrade of the 9A33BM2(3) TELAR vehicles.
Analysis of systems operation of the 9A33-1B prototype, which was used in several air defence exercises in 2016, allowed the company to identify possible areas for further improvements.
Since the beginning of March 2016, the company has continued to upgrade the 9A33BM3 TELAR vehicle and on its own initiative launched a research and development project to design and manufacture equipment for the upgrade of the target tracking radar and missile tracker of the 9A33BM3 TELAR vehicle.
The upgrade will improve the performance and maintainability due to the use of modular configuration in newly introduced equipment and provide the ability to extend service life of the equipment by replacing the vehicle’s organic systems with new ones. The company is to complete the R&D project in August 2017.
The Osa SAM system and its variants are currently the most numerous of tactical air defence systems. Despite the fact that their serial production has been stopped, more than 400 systems are still in service with many armed forces worldwide, including those of Algeria, Angola, Greece, India, Jordan, Cuba, Poland, Syria and Ecuador.
