Goscomvoyenprom’s Collegium Discusses Preparation for MILEX 2019 Exhibition

On 3 May, the collegium of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee (Goscomvoyenprom) discussed preparation for the 9th International Military Exhibition MILEX 2019.
Igor Demidenko, First Deputy Chairman of Goscomvoyenprom, delivered a report on this issue.
According to Igor Demidenko, the MILEX 2019 exhibition will be held from 15 to 18 May 2019.
“One of the main components of MILEX 2019 will be its business programme. Work is underway to prepare for the meetings of the Business Council of the CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation and the 8th International Scientific Conference on Military-Technical Problems, Defence and Security Issues and Dual-Use Technologies,” Demidenko said.
Igor Demidenko said that the speed skating rink in the Minsk Arena multifunctional cultural and sport complex and its adjacent open area will be a venue for the event. The exhibition should showcase fundamentally new or advanced weapons and military equipment that are in demand on the world arms markets and demonstrate capabilities of the Belarusian defence industry.
According to the first deputy of Goscomvoyenprom, heads of companies should pay attention first of all to these aspects.
The exhibition opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on 15 May 2019 at the Stalin Line historical and cultural complex.
Holding the MILEX 2019 exhibition in the year of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders will become a kind of bridge between the generations. Visitors will be able not only to see the latest military products, but also to have an encounter with history.
Igor Demidenko informed the collegium about certain difficulties at the stage of preparation for the exhibition. They arose in connection with the Second European Games, which will be held from 21 to 30 June 2019, and the fulfillment of the requirements that are stipulated in the contract signed between the European Olympic Committees and the host city.
He also stressed the high degree of responsibility of all those who are interested in the organisation of MILEX 2019 and the need to reach coordinated decisions for the further holding of the exhibition.
The collegium identified the priority tasks for the preparation for the MILEX 2019 exhibition. The tasks include the preparation of the Belarusian Prime Minister’s draft regulation on holding the MILEX 2019 exhibition and the establishment of an exhibition organising committee; development of an action plan for the preparation and holding of the 9th International Military Exhibition MILEX 2019 and the 8th International Scientific Conference on Military-Technical Problems, Defence and Security Issues and Dual-Use Technologies; establishment of Goscomvoyenprom’s working group responsible for the organisation of the exhibition.
A preliminary list of products offered for display at MILEX 2019 is planned to be made by 1 June 2018.
This large-scale Belarusian arms show has been attracting the leading domestic and world arms producers since 2001. The growing number of exhibitors and visitors is a confirmation of its professionalism, popularity and relevance.
The exhibition is organised by the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee jointly with the Defence Ministry.
The exhibition aims to showcase products made by defence companies and companies manufacturing dual-purpose systems, display combat and operational capabilities of military and special equipment, assist in establishing links between arms producers and customers, familiarise the public with new solutions in the field of high technologies, demonstrate the capabilities of companies specialising in the modernisation and repair of military and special equipment, conclude contracts for the modernisation of weapons, as well as promote weapons and special equipment and raise the prestige of the army.
The exhibition will contribute to strengthening international military and military-technical cooperation, raising the status of Belarusian defence companies and improving the prestige of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
